How it began...
Countless moons have passed since the four clans, reaching far beyond any cat's memory. ThunderClan, ShadowClan, RiverClan, WindClan, and StarClan are merely myths now--stories that hardly any cat pays attention to. So where did these cats--these stray ones who possess such odd abilities--spring from?
They had not always lived in this area, with the city and all. No, they came from the lake. To be more exact, the warrior clans that lived by the lake. The very clans who lived by the warrior code. These clans lived for a long time, yes, but it could not last forever. Cats became restless of doing the same things every day. StarClan cats grew tired of the living cats' countless mistakes and disputes. Was it any surprise that they finally split up?
When the clans dispersed, some still clung to the old ways. Among themselves, in small groups, they tried to bring the warrior code back. These cats clashed often with those who didn't agree. Chaos erupted. Amid the pandemonium, one cat managed to take control. Gathering numerous followers to support him, this cat became a tyrant. He was brutal and harsh, greedy, too. He enjoyed the power and forced the other cats to do as he said.
Many moons had already passed by the time this tyrant came to power. The number of warrior code followers had dropped, and already this old way of life was nearly forgotten. However, the tyrant still remembered pieces of the warrior code. In his paws, it became twisted and warped, beyond recognition.
Every cat had to listen to him. Cats had to bring him fresh-kill. On full moons this tyrant would gather all the cats in the forest and hold battles. Not many enjoyed this lifestyle, and 7 of them decided to act. At the next ''Gathering", they spoke out against their "leader". The tyrant declared their treachery to all the cats of the forest, as though they were one big clan, and drove them out and away from the lakes.
These 7 cats wandered far and aimlessly before they came to this city. Once there, they decided to create a new way of life for themselves and the cats in the area. However, they argued over how, and each had different ideas. Three of these 7 left, and they all parted ways. These three were eventually captured by Twolegs, and taken to laboratories.
While they were imprisoned, the remaining four split up as well. Each of them wandered alone, oblivious to the others. The three who had been caught were experimented on by Twolegs, used as guinea pigs for many tests. Not all of these were pleasant--quite the opposite in fact. But it became apparent eventually that these tests had given them unique powers. Somehow they escaped and dispersed once more into the city.
Abilities such as theirs could only stay a secret so long, and eventually the 7 happened to meet once more. Three of the normal ones were excited by these mutated cats, and wanted to form groups based on each power. However the last cat wanted nothing to do with them, and left. These six remaining cats split into pairs, one mutant one in each. They formed groups based on their skills like they had planned.
Of course, the cats who had been tested on declared themselves leaders, and appointed the other as second in command. Time passed. The groups grew in size, and kits were born. It wasn't long before they realized the kits inherited powers, though on a weaker scale. As a result, soon nearly all the cats in the groups had powers, weak ones. They followed no code, but did have a set of rules.
One of them was that there would be three head cats per group: the leader, an adviser(the lieutenant), and the scion, who would take leadership afterwards. The Coder was for them to keep in touch, for they rarely interacted with one another. Those who did not possess powers were scorned. The Misfits, of course, were descendants of the 7th cat who had walked out.
Now, all of them are alive and thriving, each claiming their own territories and bases. StarClan and the clans were all but forgotten, like the warrior code. But the rankings of the group made it clear that though it was unrecognizable, it had been based off of the warrior code.
